The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Iowa State University has educated thousands of chemical engineers since it was founded in 1913. In more than a century, curriculum and research have transformed several times over to provide the student leading knowledge of chemical engineering concepts and technology. The chemical engineering program attracts top national and international talent in 22 tenured or tenure-track faculty dedicated to student success.
Undergraduates become part of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers student chapter, Omega Chi Epsilon (national chemical engineering honor society) and the Iowa State chapter of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers, among hundreds of student organizations offered at Iowa State. A student can even conduct faculty research as an undergraduate.
