The Department of Chemistry has over 30 faculty members with active research programs encompassing modern aspects of bioanalytical, biomaterials, biological, catalytic, computational, nanomaterials, organometallic, organic and polymer chemistry. A significant fraction of faculty research addresses biological and biomedical problems, nanomaterials, and energy research.
The Department is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. It maintains strong ties to departments in Biological Sciences, Physics, and Chemical Engineering as well as the School of Pharmacy and the UConn Health Center. Faculty members have wide ranging collaborations extending throughout the world including National Institutes of Health, major industrial companies, and US and foreign Universities and Research Institutes.
