The Department of Chemical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University has a proud tradition of scholarship and teaching that began with Professor Merrell Fenske, the first Head of our Department and a pioneer in the technology of distillation.
Our chemical engineering graduate programs cover a wide spectrum of research areas encompassing both computational and experimental research approaches. Penn State Chemical Engineering graduates are trained to be independent researchers with the ability to solve some of today’s most challenging real-world issues. Our students enjoy ultramodern research facilities including the 275,600 square-foot Millennium Science Complex; home of the Materials Characterization Lab and The Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences. Graduate students have full access to these facilities, and others, along with the use of today’s most cutting-edge equipment. Penn State Chemical Engineering was also ranked in the top 25 U.S. News & World Report graduate program rankings for 2016.
