Modern quantitative finance makes fundamental use of sophisticated mathematical concepts and tools. The field is relatively new, and it continues to change rapidly, driven by innovation on both sides of the traditional divide between academia and industry. As practitioners have adopted increasingly quantitative methods, the demand for mathematically sophisticated finance professionals has surged. The Master of Science Program in Mathematics in Finance was created to meet this demand. It equips students with the skills they need to embark on exciting careers in this burgeoning field. Ours is not the only mathematical finance master's program, but in many ways it is unique. Courant has a long tradition of leadership in applied mathematics, with special emphasis in many areas fundamental to finance.
