A selected number of awards designated "Masters Scholars" will be made to deserving students to promote and enhance their research experience during their course of study at Penn. The awards will enable highly motivated students to pursue a well-designed research project with a faculty member for one or two semesters and obtain valuable training in experimental or computational research. The award carries no financial benefit to the students and the award money will be used solely to defray the costs of using state-of-the-art equipment at Penn, cover the cost of chemicals and computational time on computer clusters, etc. Research proposals submitted by students will be evaluated and awards will be made on a competitive basis at the end of the first year of study.
