TOEFL
TOEFL scores of a total of 80 (19 in each category except Writing which is 22), and IELTS is 6.5 or higher.TOEFL Scores (PDF) are required for all international applicants. Applicants are strongly urged to take the internet-based tests, not the paper-based test. TOEFL test scores must be provided to us directly by the Educational Testing Service.
IELTS
TOEFL scores of a total of 80 (19 in each category except Writing which is 22), and IELTS is 6.5 or higher.We will also honor IELTS test scores that are sent to us by the testing agency.
GRE
GRE scores are generally above 159 for the quantitative portion. GRE Verbal scores less than 146 and Analytical scores less than 3.0 will generally not be considered acceptable.

Your Academic Statement should be a concise statement of your plans for graduate study, your career goals, and how MSU's graduate program will help you meet your career and educational objectives. Your Academic Statement must include the following statement: "My intended area of specialization in the graduate program in (DEPARTMENT) at Michigan State University will be in _________________."? If you have already been in contact with faculty or staff at MSU regarding your application for graduate studies, please list these contacts in your Academic Statement.
When preparing your Academic Statement, please include the following information:
Briefly describe key experiences that led you to graduate studies. Examples might include research experiences, internships, coursework or extracurricular activities.
Share specific, relevant examples of how these experiences helped you develop skills for success as a graduate student. For instance, you might demonstrate ways that you have synthesized knowledge from the classroom, developed research skills, communicated effectively, acted as a leader, or gained skills and responsibility over time.
Make a clear connection between your previous experiences and your current interest in graduate studies. If your intended area of specialization in graduate school differs significantly from your previous experiences, please briefly explain why you decided to change focus.
If applicable, explain any gaps or discrepancies in your academic record and share unusual obstacles or hardships that you have overcome in pursuit of your educational objectives.
Explain how your goals for graduate study relate to your longer-term career plans, including the pursuit of additional degrees or certifications if applicable.
Your Academic Statement should be concise, and no more than 2 pages when formatted in Times New Roman 12-point font with 1-inch margins and single line spacing.
Fee
You should submit a completed application form on-line along with an application fee of $75 (valid for one year - MasterCard applicants are advised not to pay the application fee at this time and are strongly advised to upload their Mastercard application).
RL
Enter the information for your references along with their email address. They will then be automatically emailed and asked to submit letters of recommendations. You will need three references (ideally at least two should be by a college faculty who knows you well).
Transcript
Two "official"copies of transcripts from all previous universities attended (undergraduate and graduate), as well as proof of diploma (graduate certificate) in an unopened sealed university envelope. These transcripts and certificates should be sent to:

Chinese Applicants Only: Michigan State University will require all incoming ADMITTED students pursuing degrees or who have earned degrees from universities in China to submit a verification report (English version) through the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC) for their final bachelor degree transcripts (本科學位證書) and bachelor degree (大學成績單). Our department will reimburse you In the form of a fellowship for the cost of the verification once you arrive and register at Michigan State University. All verification reports need to be sent to the Michigan State University Office of Admissions directly by CDGDC. For those Master degree granted student, we only need the undergraduate level verification report from CDGDC.
