TOEFL
A TOEFL score of 550 on the paper based exam, 213 on the computer-based exam, or 79 on the internet-based exam or better is required for admission.
IELTS
Alternatively, a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or a minimum PTE score of 59 also meets the requirements for admissions.
GRE
GRE scores: In the old format, a minimum verbal score of 600 was expected. A minimum score of 160 on the Verbal element of the examination is expected, and the great majority of our PhD and MFA students have scored higher, often over 165. Writing scores tend to range between 4.5 and 6.0 on a 6.0 scale. Please note that we do not exclude review based on GRE scores alone and will evaluate all applications received by the deadline.

This brief personal statement should be about 500 words long. If you are a PhD or MA applicant, you might want to write about yourself and your interests, your research and reading, and your experience as a teacher (if any). Add any further information that you consider relevant for consideration. If you are an MFA applicant, we are interested in hearing about your artistic influences and present literary activity, but we are especially eager to hear about particular life experiences that are not reflected elsewhere in your application and that contribute to your literary productivity.
GPA
A minimum GPA of 3.2 is expected on undergraduate and graduate coursework.
Fee
The application fee is $70. Applications are not accepted after the general deadline.

Three letters of Recommendation: These should be uploaded through the Graduate School's online system.
