TOEFL
Either the TOEFL or IELTS is required of most international students. The Graduate School has a minimum TOEFL score of 80, but certain academic programs may require a higher score.
IELTS
The IELTS minimum is a total score of 6.5 for students wishing to study at UMBC.
GRE
Applicants are required to submit scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test. Admission decisions are based on the match between the program and applicant’s interests, academic record, GRE test results, and recommendations from professors (preferred) or others who can speak to the potential for success in graduate school.
