TOEFL
For all international applicants, an official English proficiency exam score, no more than two years old from the date of application, from one of three testing services is required. We accept the TOEFL (minimum 80 IBT), IELTS (minimum 6.5), and the Pearson Test of English (PTE, minimum 67). Our institutional TOEFL code is 6897.
Note: Completion of ELS level 112 meets English proficiency.
There are only two waivers of this requirement for international applicants:
International applicants who have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree from a college or university in the United States is waived from submitting the English proficiency score.
International applicants who are from a country whose official governmental language is English AND whose education has been entirely in English. Please see the list of countries whose citizens meet the waiver criteria for English proficiency.

PS
A one-page, double-spaced, typed essay outlining the applicant’s academic interests and goals. This may be submitted with the online application, or you can submit a hard copy by mail, email, or fax at the address below.
All applications will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee to guarantee the selection of the most qualified applicants based upon a holistic review of the items listed above.
GPA
The applicant’s GPA from his/her last 60 semester credit hours will be used as a part of the admission committee’s review for competitiveness for admission. Currently, the average admitted GPA is a 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
CV
A detailed resume of all work history. This may be submitted with the online application, or you can submit a hard copy by mail or email. Work experience is not required for MS degrees, however, prior working experience is highly considered for the MBA programs.
Fee
For applications submitted on or before the regular application deadline, the non-refundable application fee is $50.
For applications submitted after the regular application deadline, the non-refundable application fee is $125.
Applicants with international academic documents will be assessed an additional foreign credential evaluation fee of $50.
RL
Three letters of recommendation from current or past employers, community leaders, current or former professors, or others, are required. Applicants are also welcome to use more than one individual from a workplace or organization. Letters of recommendation may be submitted through the online letter of recommendation system in the online application, or you can submit a hard copy by mail, email, or fax at the address below. We do not require a specific recommendation form or format, however, you can use the format that is provided by the admission office.
Transcript
Local applicants must submit official transcripts from all U.S. based colleges and universities attended, including any graduate program in which the applicant was enrolled, for admission. These transcripts must be certified, signed or stamped official by the university’s Registrar Office. Transcripts must be mailed to the Office of Admission and Enrollment Services at the address below or may be transferred electronically between the institutions and UT Dallas.
International applicants and U.S. citizen and permanent resident applicants with an international degree must submit an official attested photocopy of academic documents such as a transcript, diploma, mark sheets, provisional degree certificate and or your final degree certificate, in a school sealed envelope with the school seal stamped on the back side of the envelope (see a list of examples of required academic documents needed).
