TOEFL
The University at Buffalo has a minimum TOEFL score requirement of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based).
IELTS
On IELTS, UB requires an overall score of 6.5 with no band below 6.0.
GRE
GRE score is required for all Ph.D. applicants and MS applicants (only if BS degree was obtained from a non-US institute). We do not have any minimum GRE score requirement for admission into our program. However, a good GRE score is very important for admission into our graduate program. The average GRE score of students admitted to our graduate program is approximately 311 (GRE V+Q) in last three years and most funded students are substantially higher.

Your statement of purpose essay should clearly state your career goals, research interests, and name of at least three faculty members with whom you want to work with. Tell us how you will fund your studies and whether you will attend if financial assistance is not available.
GPA
The minimum undergraduate GPA for admission to our MS program is 3.0 and 3.25 for admission to our Ph.D. program directly after bachelor's degree.
