PS PHD applicants need to upload a statement of purpose in the application. Please write a one-page essay describing your academic and career goals. GPA In general, a student must have a least a 3.00 GPA (out of 4.00) in all undergraduate course work and at least a 3.50 GPA in all graduate course work for admission to the Ph.D. program. A student must usually hold a master’s degree before being admitted to the Ph.D. program. Direct Ph.D. admission is available for students graduating from an U.S. ABET-accredited electrical engineering program with a GPA of 3.60 or higher. After you submit the application, your recommenders will automatically receive an email with additional instructions. Your resume is not required. Transcript You must have one set of official transcripts from every college and university from which you earned a bachelor’s degree or higher sent to ASU. ASU accepts official transcripts that are original academic credentials issued by the registrar of the institution attended, bearing the original raised or colored seal of the institution and the signature of your institution's registrar, academic official or recognized international organization. All international transcripts must be submitted in the original language accompanied by an official English translation. Translations must be literal, complete versions of the originals and must be translated by a university, government official or official translation service. You may not complete your own translation. If you attended ASU, you do not need to request ASU transcripts to be sent.
