PS You should prepare your personal statement in advance to be uploaded into the online application. Be sure to carefully proofread your statement prior to submitting. Please note that special fonts and/or formats (i.e. italics, bold, etc.) may be lost during submission. Please be concise, yet thorough. The statement should be no more than two pages long. In review of your personal statement, the admissions committee will seek evidence of your maturity, leadership, strength of purpose, academic potential and ability to communicate clearly and professionally. Distinguish yourself Submission of the personal statement allows you an opportunity to highlight the qualities and experiences that distinguish you as a prospective W. P. Carey doctoral student. Please provide the following information address the areas requested as part of your statement: Your name as it will appear on the graduate application Your nine-digit ASU identification number, and/or the ASU application reference number assigned to you upon submission of your online application Your personal background, including formative events, honors, achievements and community activities Research interests and any past research activities Reason for interest in the W. P. Carey PhD in business administration with a concentration in accounting How obtaining a PhD will help you achieve your personal career goals and career objectives GPA You must have maintained a “B” (3.00 on a 4.00 scale) grade point average (GPA) in the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate course work. If you do not meet the minimum GPA requirements, your application may still be considered. Fee domestic: $70; international: $90 RL We request a minimum of three letters of recommendation to be submitted on your behalf. You will be asked in the ASU Graduate College application for the names and email addresses of the three recommenders, which you will enter via the “Supplemental” tab in the application. Your recommenders will receive an email with a link that will direct them to submit their recommendations electronically to the ASU Graduate College. Please inform your recommenders that the online submission process is the only method for submission. Ideally, letters should be from individuals who can best evaluate your potential for graduate-level research. These typically are faculty at research-oriented schools. They should know you personally and be familiar with your credentials, leadership strengths, and professional aspirations. They also should know your personal qualities, current career focus, and potential for success in a doctoral business program Transcript You must have one set of official transcripts from every college and university from which you earned a bachelor’s degree or higher sent to ASU. ASU accepts official transcripts that are original academic credentials issued by the registrar of the institution attended, bearing the original raised or colored seal of the institution and the signature of your institution's registrar, academic official or recognized international organization. All international transcripts must be submitted in the original language accompanied by an official English translation. Translations must be literal, complete versions of the originals and must be translated by a university, government official or official translation service. You may not complete your own translation. If you attended ASU, you do not need to request ASU transcripts to be sent. To expedite the processing of your application, please write your application reference number on all documents and envelopes submitted to ASU.
