PS While we offer an excellent teaching-track, in your statement of purpose we are interested in hearing about your preparation as a writer more than your plans for a teaching career. Please respond to the following: Describe in specific terms what you've been attempting, in terms of both form and content, in your work as a writer this past year. Please note: We regard your statement of purpose as evidence of your skills as a writer and are particularly alert to what it reveals about your voice and style. GPA AU standards ask for a minimum 3.0 GPA for undergraduate work. CV The résumé should list a candidate's relevant work experience, internships, research, awards, and/or publications, as well as educational history. A curriculum vitae (CV) is also accepted. Fee The application fee is $55, payable by credit or debit card. We accept Visa, Discover, and Mastercard. RL Two letters of recommendation. Recommenders will evaluate a candidate based on academic performance, motivation for program of study, intellectual capacity and/or research and writing ability. Recommendation letters can be uploaded only after the application has been submitted and the fee paid. Transcript Transcripts: Official Transcript Evaluation All international applicants are required to complete an official transcript evaluation. The transcript evaluation is not required for international applicants who have completed a Bachelor's degree in the United States. Transcript evaluations must be submitted to American University in lieu of the original international transcript. In order to complete a transcript evaluation, candidates must submit their official transcript(s) to a NACES approved transcript evaluation agency.
